This Brown Butter Apples recipe is the perfect fall dessert. A quick caramel and nutty brown butter with tender braised apples have all those comforting fall flavors.

I love fall, and even though it doesn’t feel like fall here in Florida, that doesn’t stop me from eating all my favorite fall snacks. I always loved apple picking growing up, mainly because our apple picking ended in buying penny candy, but those days are still some of my favorite memories. While apples are delicious on their own, these brown butter apples are my favorite way to eat them! While this recipe isn’t healthy, apples themselves are super healthy! The trick to making the apples delicious is tossing them in a quick caramel. Just add some sugar to a pan and watch in turn brown and bubbly, the quickest caramel. Once it bubbles add the apples slices and give it a gentle toss. This helps get that caramel flavor on all the apples. Right after the apples add the butter, then just watch the magic happen! The aroma of nutty brown butter and sweet caramel will quickly fill your house, the essence of fall.

This is a simple three ingredient recipe that can be used in so many ways. Make a big batch and fill a graham cracker crust with them as a fun take on apple pie. Or top them with granola for a deconstructed apple crisp. Pairing the warm apples with some vanilla ice cream is my favorite way to eat them. But if you’re trying to “stick” to your diet just eat them with some oatmeal or yogurt, like I did. You really can’t go wrong!

Ingredients
  • 2 Green Apples, Peeled and Sliced
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 Stick Butter
Instructions
  1. Put sugar in saute pan
  2. Cook on high until brown and bubbly
  3. Add apples, and toss until coated
  4. Add butter
  5. Cook until apples are tender

      A lot of the butter will be left in the pan at the end of cooking. You just need to have them completely submerged so they cook evenly
