Dark Chocolate Joys

These Dark Chocolate Joys have all the flavors of an Almond Joy Candy, but with way more chocolate. These sinful cookies are perfect for the chocolate lover in your life.

Like most people I absolutely love chocolate! These cookies have the same taste profile as an almond joy, chocolate, coconut, and almond. However instead of a coconut filling they have an intense chocolate cookie in the middle which is then rolled in coconut, and topped with a salty almond: perfection!

The bitter chocolate of this cookie is the perfect way to end you day. I love to pair them with a big glass of milk, to help balance out the bitter nature of dark chocolate. The best pair of these cookies is that they’re only sweetened with apple sauce! Coconut already delivers such a perfect sweetness you don’t need to add much!

I’ve started using cacao powder instead of cocoa powder in my baking. (Click here so read some benefits of cacao.) In addition to the health reason, cacao has a more intense, bitter, chocolate flavor that I love. If you don’t have any cacao you can definitely feel free to use cocoa powder, they will still be chocolately and delicious, I promise!
