This savory baked brie is the perfect party food. Ooey gooey brie loaded with caramelized onions and garlic, topped with some pine nuts. This is a snack that will have everyone going back for more.
By far one of my favorite snacks is a baked brie! Ooey gooeeyy cheese? Yes please! The down side of baked brie is it’s usually smothered in sugar loaded jam. So I decided to make a savory one instead. It may not be the healthiest snack, but you can take comfort in the fact that its not covered in sugar! Instead this cheese is covered in caramelized onions and garlic combined with some pine nuts and dried herbs.
I know they have those fancy baked brie baking dishes, but that seems like a waste of money. In fact my 6 cup pyrex container held an 8 oz brie perfectly. I got these containers for Christmas and I am obsessed with them. I assembled the brie a few days before I wanted to serve it. Put a lid on the container and threw it in the fridge until I had company over. Then just put the container in oven when I was ready to eat it. Perfect party dish!
Even though there’s no sugar in this dish by caramelizing the onions you get a naturally sweetness. Plus the vinegar helps to brighten up this heavy cheese dish. Once you try this you wont want to go back to the sugary traditional baked bries.
- 8 oz Wheel of Brie
- 1 Small Onion, Sliced
- 2 Cloves Garlic, Minced
- 2 Tablespoon Pine Nuts
- ½ Teaspoon Balsamic Vinegar
- ¼ Teaspoon Flake Salt
- ¼ Teaspoon Dried Thyme
- Remove top rind from cheese
- Caramelize the onions and garlic in olive oil
- Add balsamic vinegar and pine nuts
- Scoop mixture on top cheese
- Sprinkle salt and thyme on top
- Bake at 350F for 20 minutes
