Day 3 of my whole30 and I’m starting to get used to my new routine. I walked right by a candy plate and didn’t even think twice about wanting some. I do find myself still having cravings but now for Larabars and dried figs. While still a sweetness craving I don’t need to feel guilty when I indulge in those. I am finding I get headaches a bit throughout the day but, over all I feel very alert and have lots of energy most of the time. However, by dinner time I am very tired. I was in bed before 10pm, but getting some extra sleep may be a good thing!
Since day 2 was more successful than day 1 I stuck to my plan of eating smaller meals more frequently. For breakfast I again had a smoked salmon and avocado roll followed by a hard boiled egg about 45 minutes later.
I still caved for a mid morning Larabar, but I had a new flavor so I just had to try it! Blueberry muffin, might be my favorite so far. I have decided that for day 4 of my whole30 I’m going to leave the larabars at home that way I can’t cave to my new addiction.
Around noon I had some green beans and cashews made by my neighbor. I enlisted her to go on this journey with me so we’ve been sharing snacks. I thought I would need to eat more than this during my first lunch but I was surprisingly filled, it was a larger portion than I usually eat of a vegetable but they’re veggies you can never have too much!
Since my first lunch kept me fairly full an hour later I just had a green apple with some carrots and celery sticks. It was so hot here in Florida is was nice to eat some cold food.
During my afternoon slump I had a clementine and a hard boiled egg to keep me from crashing.
Since my whole30 day 3 fell on a Taco Tuesday, which is a must in my house, I had taco salad. This meal worked out really well since my boyfriend isn’t taking this whole30 journey while me we were both able to get what we want. I thawed some of my whole30 shredded pork and seasoned it with homemade fajita seasoning. He put his in corn tortillas and I used mine to top a salad of fresh greens, tomatoes, and avocado finished with a squeeze a lime juice.
I told myself I would allow only red wine on my whole30 journey but now 3 days even I still haven’t touched any. Instead late at night I had a cup of chai tea and some dried figs. I know I will end up drinking some wine during my 30 days, especially with New Years Eve around the corner but I know I’ll be careful not to over indulge knowing how great I’ve felt the past few days.
Overall Day 3 was the best day so far. If they keep getting better I can’t even imagine how good I’ll feel on day 30. Only time will tell!
