I survived my first Whole30 day! It was actually not as easy I thought it would be. The morning went well but by mid afternoon I was seriously lagging; so tired with a terrible head ache. I complained about wanting ice cream but never caved to it!
I did have one moment of accidental cheating. I think, as I continue on I will get better about this. I was making a patty melt for my boyfriends lunch, cooking some onions in butter and out of habit tasted some. Opps! It is the small things like these, eating a piece of cheese while making sandwiches for others that are the hardest to break. I think the whole30 will be good for me because it will help prevent those moments of mindless eating just because food is near you.
My goal was to take a picture of all my Whole30 meals, but just progressing through out the day I’d forget. Don’t mind my terrible cell phone pictures. I know I will never get out the fancy camera every time I eat, sorry! But here is a list of my whole30 day!
I purposely started my whole30 on a Sunday that way I could spend the day prepping lots of healthy snacks for the week. I cleaned and cut carrot and celery sticks to always have on hand. Pickled some red onions to make salads tastier. I made a big batch of chicken, sweet potato, and almond soup which was way more delicious than I thought it would be; based on a recipe from my Clean Slate Cookbook. Beef and cabbage rolls to put in the freeze for a later date. Some smoked salmon rolled with pickled onions and avocado. A big batch of cabbage and ground beef stir fry. And lots of hard boiled eggs for breakfast!
All and all day one wasn’t as easy as I thought it be, but I’m determined to stick this through and hopefully by the end of this challenge will pick up some healthy eating habits!
